There are some pieces you design because you have an idea. And then there are the pieces that require you to rethink what you thought you could make. The Hillingdon Handbag is the latter.

Our newest handbag is unlike anything we have created before - a structured shearling silhouette designed with the same spirit of craftsmanship, natural beauty, and individuality that has defined Brackish from the beginning. It is luxurious without feeling precious, polished without being overly serious, and undeniably special without needing to shout about it.

Most importantly, it represents something bigger for us. The Hillingdon is a new chapter for Brackish. For years, we have approached accessories through the lens of natural materials. Feathers have always been our signature, transformed by hand in Charleston, South Carolina into pieces designed to make getting dressed feel a little more exciting. With the Hillingdon, we wanted to take that same philosophy somewhere new.

We wanted to make a handbag that felt like Brackish. Not simply a bag with a Brackish logo on it, but a piece that carries the same sense of discovery, craftsmanship, and personality as everything else we create.

And after months of development, sampling, refining, and rethinking, here she is. Meet the Hillingdon.

A New Chapter for Brackish

The idea behind the Hillingdon started with a relatively simple question: What does the Brackish woman want to carry?

She already has the statement earrings. She has the bow tie she bought for her husband, the cuff she reaches for before dinner, the brooch that makes a blazer feel like her own.

But we wanted to create something different. Something she could carry every day. Something that could go from a morning coffee to an afternoon meeting, from a weekend away to dinner with friends. Something that felt equally at home with denim and a sweater as it did with a dress and heels. Most of all, we wanted it to feel considered.

The handbag market is filled with beautiful options, but we weren't interested in creating another bag simply because we could. We wanted to create an artisan-crafted handbag with a point of view. One that could stand on its own while still feeling unmistakably Brackish.

That meant thinking carefully about everything - from the material to the silhouette, the proportions to the texture, and the way the bag would ultimately live in someone's wardrobe. The result is the Hillingdon.

Why Shearling?

There is something inherently inviting about shearling. It has texture you can see and feel. It brings warmth to a silhouette. It has a softness that contrasts beautifully with structured shapes, creating a balance that feels both luxurious and approachable.

For a fall handbag, it felt almost inevitable. But choosing shearling wasn't simply about making something seasonal. We wanted a material with enough character to stand on its own.

Natural materials have always been central to Brackish because they bring something that manufactured materials cannot completely replicate: variation. No two natural surfaces are exactly the same. Light moves across them differently. Texture shifts. Small imperfections become part of the personality.

That is exactly what we love about shearling. It has an organic quality that makes a structured handbag feel less formal and much more interesting. And for fall 2026, that combination feels particularly right. Think rich texture, warm color, beautiful structure, and just enough unexpectedness.

Structure Meets Softness

One of the most important design decisions behind the Hillingdon was its silhouette. Shearling naturally has softness and volume, so we wanted to balance that with a structured shape.

The result is a handbag that feels polished without feeling rigid. This contrast is what makes the Hillingdon so versatile.

The softness of the shearling gives the bag an approachable, tactile quality. The structured silhouette keeps it elevated. It's the same balance we look for throughout the Brackish collection: something familiar with a little surprise.

A classic shape, but in an unexpected material. A sophisticated palette, but with personality. A handbag that works with your wardrobe rather than dictating it.

The Details Matter

Creating a new handbag meant thinking about details in an entirely different way. With jewelry, the proportions may be measured in inches. With a handbag, you are thinking about how something feels on the shoulder, what it can hold, how it opens and closes, how it sits against the body, and how it looks from every angle.

Every element had to earn its place. The proportions needed to feel balanced. The silhouette needed to be beautiful when carried and when set down. The materials needed to complement rather than compete with one another. And the overall design needed to feel luxurious while remaining functional.

Because a handbag can be beautiful - but if you don't want to carry it, what is the point? The Hillingdon was designed to be lived with.

The Brackish Approach to Handbags

Brackish began with feathers. That remains incredibly important to us. But over time, our definition of natural luxury has expanded. We have explored leather, stingray, lionfish, silk, metals, and other materials that allow us to tell new stories through accessories.

The Hillingdon is a continuation of that exploration. It is an opportunity to apply what we have learned from years of handcrafted accessory design to an entirely new category.

Distinctive. Artful. A little unexpected. And made with intention.

Crafted in Charleston

There is something special about knowing where an object was designed. For us, that place is Charleston, South Carolina.

Brackish has always been rooted in Charleston, and our commitment to American craftsmanship is part of the reason the brand exists in the first place.

The Hillingdon carries that philosophy forward. Our approach to craftsmanship is deliberately hands-on. It is about the small decisions that happen during the making process - the things that can be difficult to capture in a product description but are immediately apparent when you hold the finished piece.

That is the beauty of an artisan handbag. It doesn't feel anonymous. It feels considered. And while the Hillingdon is a completely new category for Brackish, it is still connected to the same craftsmanship tradition that has shaped our accessories for years.

A Handbag for the Brackish Woman

So, who is the Hillingdon for?

She's someone who appreciates the classics but doesn't necessarily want the obvious version of them. She might have a closet full of beautiful things, but she's always looking for that one piece that makes everything feel new again.

She loves a great blazer. She knows the power of a statement earring. She is perfectly happy wearing jeans on Saturday and getting dressed up on Saturday night. She values quality, but she also wants personality. And she understands that luxury doesn't have to mean flashy.

Sometimes luxury is simply having something beautifully made. Something that feels good in your hand. Something you know you will reach for again and again.

That is the woman we had in mind when we designed the Hillingdon.

How to Style a Shearling Handbag for Fall

1

With Denim

Perhaps the easiest place to start.

Pair the Hillingdon with your favorite straight-leg jeans, a simple cashmere sweater, and loafers or boots.

The texture of the shearling instantly elevates a relaxed outfit without making it feel overly styled.

It's the kind of look that says you made an effort without looking like you tried too hard. Our favorite kind.

2

With Tailoring

For something a little more polished, pair the Hillingdon with a structured blazer or tailored trousers.

The contrast between sharp tailoring and soft shearling creates visual interest without requiring additional accessories.

Add a pair of statement earrings and you're ready for just about anything.

3

For a Fall Dinner

This is where the Hillingdon gets to have a little fun.

Wear it with a dress, slingback heels, and jewelry that catches the light. The bag becomes the textural centerpiece of the look.

And because the silhouette is structured, it feels evening-appropriate while still being distinctly seasonal.

4

For the Weekend

A handbag doesn't need to be reserved for special occasions.

Wear the Hillingdon with a sweater dress, tall boots, and a scarf for a weekend lunch or afternoon of shopping.

Add sunglasses. Maybe a little lipstick. Call it a day.

Peach, Burgundy & the Colors of the Season

Color played an important role in the development of the Hillingdon.

Fall has a way of bringing out the richest colors in a wardrobe - deep burgundy, warm brown, cream, muted gold, soft camel, and unexpected shades that feel somewhere between autumn and something entirely new.

For Fall 2026, we're especially drawn to peach and burgundy accessories. Peach brings softness and warmth. Burgundy brings depth. Together, they create a palette that feels sophisticated without feeling predictable.

And because the Hillingdon is a textural piece, color takes on another dimension. The surface of the shearling interacts with light in a way that gives even a tonal palette depth. It's another example of why we love natural materials. They never really stay still.

More Than a New Bag

The Hillingdon is, of course, a handbag. But for Brackish, it represents something much bigger.

It is proof that a brand can evolve without losing the things that made it special in the first place.

Our materials may change. Our silhouettes may change. Our categories may grow. But the philosophy remains the same: Take something beautiful. Make something unexpected. Make it well.

That philosophy began with feathers and continues to guide every new collection we create. The Hillingdon simply gives it a new place to live.

The Luxury of Something Different

There is a reason handbags have always held such an important place in fashion. They are functional, but they are also expressive.

They travel with us. They become part of our routines. They hold the things we need, but they also say something about who we are.

The best handbags manage to do both. The Hillingdon was designed with that in mind. It is luxurious, but not precious. Distinctive, but not difficult. Seasonal, but not disposable. And perhaps most importantly, it is made for a woman who would rather have something interesting than something everyone else already owns.

Introducing the Hillingdon

If there is one thing we've learned after years of creating accessories, it's that the most interesting ideas usually begin with a material.

A feather. A piece of leather. A natural pattern. A texture. Something that catches your eye and makes you wonder: What could this become?

The Hillingdon started with that question. It became our most ambitious handbag yet. And now, it is ready to become part of your story.
