Ben Ross is the co-founder of Brackish and is the genius behind our craft. He’s spilling all the details about our fall men’s collection, what he’s looking forward to the most, and even an exciting new product release
What excites you the most about our fall men’s collection?
"What excites me the most about this fall collection is the diversification of the products that we’re introducing. I’m so proud of the Brackish team and the creativity during these difficult times that we’re all going through. To do what we’ve done I believe speaks to our commitment to each other and commitment to the team and the Brackish family."
What do our new product categories add to our existing collection?
"I am so proud of the array of products that we’re introducing in this new fall line. Both on the men’s and women’s side - time, effort, thought, purpose and meaning have gone into every single detail and every single product. I am really excited to show you what’s going on this fall."
Where are our fall designs made? And what are they made of?
"Everything in this fall collection is handmade right there in the Brackish Studio in West Ashley, in Charleston, South Carolina by our amazing team of artists. Each product goes through about three to four different sets of hands, sometimes even seven. Sometimes it takes up to four to five hours to complete one individual bow tie depending on the complexity of the design. These designs and these products are all made with sustainably sourced feathers - free range feather suppliers. No bird is ever harmed for Brackish to obtain a single feather and I am very proud of that."
How do our core values play a part in this collection?
"Our core values play a lot into everyday life at Brackish. They are the bedrock on which this company was built on, and which we strive for to maintain the environment that we’ve created. Jeff and I strongly believe in our core values because that’s what led us to create Brackish and have such a unique gathering of individuals with such amazing talents. This led us to put together something that really has never been done before, and at the root of everything are the core values."
How does the fall men’s collection speak to the Brackish roots?
"The fall collection this year speaks to the Brackish roots just like every year does and every season. At the core of everything is family, friends and a love of the beauty found around us, that surrounds us all on a daily basis. Jeff encourages me to get as creative and as outlandish as I can possibly be with my product designs, and it’s that encouragement that drives me to continue to create these unique items. So that at its core - family, friends and a love of the beauty of the details that surround us every day - is at the core of everything we do here at Brackish."
How would you style these new designs?
"Often I’m asked, “How do you style a Brackish bow tie? What do you wear with it? What event is it appropriate with?” I’d say, go with what makes you comfortable. That is the most important thing to us, and I think as long as you’re comfortable, the bow tie will speak for itself. They are truly works of art and I don’t think you can go wrong with any ensemble and any tie worn any way. Pocket squares, lapel pins, cuffs and cufflinks - I don’t think you can wear one wrong."
What fall piece are you most excited to wear this season?
"I’d have to say the cuffs. The men’s cuffs have been in the works for a couple years now, and I’ve been rocking them for quite some time. I’m getting stoked that they’re coming out for everyone to enjoy. I’m really proud of them, and I hope you’re as excited as I am about getting them."
